(June 5, 2018)<\/b> <\/b>\u2013 Neel-Schaffer, Inc., is pleased to announce that Lance Taylor, PE, has joined the firm and will manage the firm\u2019s Alabama operations.<\/p>\nBIRMINGHAM, Ala. Taylor joins Neel-Schaffer after recently retiring from the Alabama Department of Transportation. He spent nearly 26 years with ALDOT, serving in various capacities, including Assistant Region Engineer for Pre-Construction for the East Central Region.<\/p>\n
In that role his duties included plan development, right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation, railroad coordination, FHWA coordination, design decisions, scope decisions, NEPA document coordination, and contract specification development. Taylor also oversaw or worked on multiple multi-million-dollar projects for ALDOT, including several $100 million-plus interstate modifications, and the $716 million bridge replacement project in the Birmingham Central Business District.<\/p>\n
Taylor has extensive experience in managing workforce planning and development training, securing project funding, developing funding agreements, and facilitating public outreach.<\/p>\n
Taylor will be based in the firm\u2019s Birmingham office, where he will oversee daily operations for our three Alabama offices, in Birmingham, Mobile, and Tuscaloosa. Neel-Schaffer has about 70 professional, technical, and administrative employees who live and work in Alabama, providing a wide variety of engineering services, from transportation to environmental.<\/p>\n
