Neel-Schaffer will soon be engaged in the largest project (by construction cost) in the history of the firm, the $850 million Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Widening project in Mobile, AL.<\/h2>\n

Mobile Bay Gateway Partners, a partnership that includes Mobile-based Thompson Engineering, HDR, and Hatch Mott McDonald, was recently awarded the contract for the project to design a new bridge over the Mobile River, and widen the Bayway connector (I-10).<\/p>\n

As a subconsultant to Mobile Gateway Partners, Neel-Schaffer will provide preliminary design services in the following areas: Environmental, traffic engineering and ITS, bike and pedestrian facilities, and hydraulics analysis.<\/p>\n

The new bridge and widening of I-10 will help alleviate traffic congestion in the City of Mobile. Currently, I-10 traffic is routed under the river via the Wallace Tunnel. The Bayway will be widened from two to four lanes in each direction.<\/p>\n

John Murphy, who joined Neel-Schaffer in 2013 and leads our Mobile office, will be Neel-Schaffer\u2019s project director. Sellers said work will be performed through our three Alabama offices (Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Birmingham), and other offices throughout the company.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
